This Slow Cooker Dr Pepper Pulled Pork is super easy , full of flavor and the perfect way to feed a crowd. This is perfect served on a bun with a little coleslaw either on the side or right on top.  Once the pork is shredded  it can be place back in the slow cooker to be kept warm. This is the perfect meal to make for parties , family gatherings or even game day. I normally have the pork in the warm set out some buns , coleslaw , pickles and chips. So easy and I always get rave reviews. This is perfect serve with my Simple Sugar Free Coleslaw.

  • What kind of pork roast can I use ? You can use any type . I used a loin roast but a pork butt or shoulder can be used.
  • Do I have to use Dr Pepper? You can you any dark cola but no Diet colas.
  • Do I have to use Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce? You can use what ever BBQ sauce is your favorite, this is mine.
  • Can I make this in the oven? I have made this in the oven , the trick is to keep it covered and cook it on a low temp for at least 4-6 hours

Place the pork roast in a slow cooker and add the minced onions , garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Slow Cooker Dr Pepper Pulled pork second step with dr pepper poured over the roast and BBQ sauce.

Add the Dr Pepper and about 1/2 of the bottle of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce

Cover and cook 4-5 hours on high or 7-8 hours on low. The meat should be tenderSlow Cooker Dr Pepper Pulled pork removed from the slow cooker and its shredded in a bowl with BBQ sauce

Remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred it with 2 forks in a plan. Add remaining BBQ sauce and juices from the slow cooker until it is to desired consistency.

This is ready to serve immediately . The juices can be drained from the slow cooker and meat added back to keep warm. We like ours served in a bun with coleslaw.

  • 3-4 LBS Pork Roast see notes
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup Dr Pepper
  • 18 oz Sweet Baby Ray Barbecue sauce

Instructions
 

  • Place the pork roast in a slow cooker and add the minced onions , garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Notes

For this recipe I used a pork loin but I have also used the more tradition pork butt or shoulder roast. I honestly got what was on sale and I always recommend this.

Loved the pulled pork – the recipe could not have been any easier!
I used a pork loin and my favorite BBQ sauce.
