These Southern Buttermilk Biscuits are rich and flaky . They only have four ingredients and are made in less than thirty minutes.

2 cups Self Rising Flour  1/3 cup Butter Crisco  2 TBS sugar  1 cup Buttermilk

Start by mixing the sugar into the self rising flour.

Using a pastry cutter starting cutting the crisco into the flour mixture.

Cut the crisco into the the flour until it is small pea sized pieces.

Slowly add the buttermilk mixing as you go .

Once the dough is formed turn it out on a flour surface and knead a few times to incorporate all of the dough. Pat it into a 1 inch thick circle and cut biscuits.

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and brush with butter.

Bake at 425 degrees for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve Warm with your choice of topping .
