Old Fashioned Pea Salad

This old fashion pea salad is just like Grandma used to make. The sweet peas go so good with the savory cheese and bacon. This creamy salad is a BBQ must.

Ingredients
  

  • 24 oz Frozen Peas thawed
  • 1/3 cup diced red onion
  • 2 Stalks celery diced
  • 2 Boiled eggs Diced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese
  • 6 pieces of cooked bacon and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 cups Mayo
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions
 

  • Start by boiling your eggs and cooking your bacon. Dice and let them cool *See note below
  • Put the frozen peas in a colander and run cold water over them until they are defrosted
  • Place defrosted peas into a large mixing bowl and add diced onion , diced celery , shredded cheese , diced eggs and bacon.
  • Mix together gently
  • Add Mayo , salt, pepper and stir gently careful not to break the peas
  • The pea salad is ready to serve . It is even better after it chills a few hours. This salad in is good covered in the Fridge up to 3 days

Notes

At most supermarket they have already boiled eggs and already cooked bacon. The bacon needs to be crisped up in the microwave . Both of these items are huge time savers.
I usually grate my own cheese but already shredded can be used
