Sugar Cookie Frosting

This is two way to decorate sugar cookies. One is a spreadable frosting and another is piped on.

Ingredients
  

Spreadable butter cream frosting

  • 8 Tablespoons butter room temp
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla or almond extracts
  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk
  • gel food coloring for tint

Piped Frosting

  • 3 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 3-4 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extracts
  • gel food coloring for tint

Instructions
 

Spreadable Frosting

  • Beat Butter until it is smooth . Sift powdered sugar into a separate bowl
  • Add about powdered sugar a little at a time -I do about a half cup at a time
  • After you about a cup add the extracts of your choice
  • Continuing adding powdered sugar
  • Thin to desired consistency with milk

Piped frosting

  • Sift powdered sugar in a bowl
  • Add the corn syrup and extracts
  • Add 1 tablespoon of milk at a time while mixing until desired consistency
  • Tint with gel food coloring if desired
  • Transfer to a piping bag
