Caprese Salad with Balsamic Glaze is an easy elegant salad. Ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil drizzled with a sweet balsamic glaze and olive oil.
1-2Tablespoons Balsamic Glaze Make your own or store bought glaze
Sea Salt and Freshly Cracked Pepper to Taste
Balsamic Glaze
1 cup Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tablespoon granulated Sugar
Instructions
Balsamic Glaze
In a small sauce pan add 1 cup of balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
Make sure you have good ventilation , turn on your vent hood and bring the mixture up to a boil.
Reduce the heat and lower it to a simmer for about 15-20 minutes .
The glaze should coat a back of a spoon when reduced enough and it should be approximately 1/3 of a cup.
Remove from heat and let it cool completely , it will thicken more as it cools
Caprese Salad
Slice Tomatoes in about 1/4 inch thick slices and slice mozzarella if it isn't already sliced
Roll the basil leaves and cut in strips ** See Notes below
On a plate alternate 3 Tomato slices and 2 slices of fresh mozzarella
Drizzle with Olive Oil
Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze
Sprinkle the basil on top and you can even put whole leaves between layers
Salt and pepper to taste
Serve Immediately

Notes
You can make your own Balsamic glaze or buy it already made. I have done this both ways and they are equally as good. Honestly it is just easier to buy it already made.
