Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Allow the pie crust to get to room temp . On a floured surface unroll the pie crust and place one directly on top of each other . With a rolling pin roll them to make one thick crust and making about a 12 inch circle .
Move the prepared crust to a baking sheet lined with parchement paper .
In a mixing bowl add the sliced apples , lemon juice , sugar , cinnamon , and flour.
Mix well to coat all the apples . I found using my hands was the easiest method .
Transfer the apples to the crust leaving about 1 1/2 inches around the edges .
Tuck and fold the dough pinching the folds to keep them together.
Beat the egg and water together for the egg wash . Brush the crust with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar
Place the cubed butter on top of the apples sporadically . Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is slightly brown
Let cool slightly and drizzle with desired amount of caramel
Serve each slice with a little extra caramel . Serve with or without ice cream or whipped cream .
