Jalapeno Mayo

February 14, 2021 by Debbie Leave a Comment

Jalapeno Mayo in a beige serving bowl with two jalapenos on top.

This Jalapeno Mayo is creamy spicy goodness that is the perfect addition to any sandwich or burger. It can bring ordinary to extraordinary with one smear. This is not only perfect on my Surf and Turf Po’Boys , imagine it on a freshly made BLT, YUMM!! This will spice up anything you would normally put mayo on. If you are a jalapeno lover like my husband you will want this in the fridge all of the time. Seriously , this is a staple at my house and it is so super easy. Obviously if you don’t like things spiced up this may not be for you .

Chipotle Crema

August 15, 2020 by Debbie 2 Comments

Chipotle Crema in a serving bowl with a spoon

This chipotle crema is made with Mexican cream and chipotle sauce . This is creamy and has a kick from the smoky chipotle sauce. The chipotle sauce is rather spicy but the crema is mild and it really helps mellow it out . I created this crema to drizzled on my Easy Fish Tacos but it can be drizzled on just about anything. It would be awesome on a taco salad,  or topping a chili or soup.

Old Fashioned Sausage Gravy

August 12, 2020 by Debbie 14 Comments

.Old Fashioned Sausage Gravy in a white serving bowl

Old Fashioned Sausage Gravy is a southern staple usually served with a flaky Buttermilk biscuit. This creamy gravy can be whipped up in minutes and is hearty enough to be served for any meal of the day. This was the first type of gravy my mother taught me to make. When I learned I really didn’t cook, so basically if a teenager can make this anyone can. This gravy was dished up on a regular basis when I was growing up , I had two older brothers and we all loved it. My mother didn’t make homemade biscuits but we sometimes had this served over toast and even a big dollop on some hash browns. This old fashioned sausage gravy is a must when making my Southern Buttermilk Biscuits.

Caramel Ganache

August 4, 2020 by Debbie 22 Comments

Caramel Ganache in a bowl with apples around it

This caramel ganache is rich, creamy and so versatile it can be used in many ways. From drizzling on cakes to dipping apples slices in it . I came up with this recipe after having a little experience while working my other job when a recipe called for not 1 , not 2 , but 3 ice water bathes for different fillings for a cake. Using the one ice water bath for this recipe is not big deal, lol.  I recently had to alter this recipe because the chocolate company I got caramel from went out of business, it was a very sad day for me. After a little experimenting this recipe came together great with easy to find Kraft Caramel candies.

Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter

July 31, 2020 by Debbie Leave a Comment

Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter in a serving dish

Pumpkin spice lovers will adore this easy five ingredient Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter. It’s like pumpkin pie in a jar without the guilt , then smeared on toast.  I was not introduced to this wonderful condiment until I was an adult . No, I didn’t live under a rock before then . Growing up in Southern Louisiana the food was always wonderful but our typical fall food did not include a lot of variety. My mother doesn’t like pumpkin anything so I was convinced I didn’t either . Fast forward to the adult me ..I love all pumpkin desserts . I still love my old faithful fall favorites like Pecan Tassies and Sweet potato pie but I now include Pumpkin anything in my fall food. When I discovered pumpkin butter and it was a condiment ..life changing . I could have a taste of pumpkin pie almost everyday without actually eating pie.

Cinnamon Butter

July 30, 2020 by Debbie 4 Comments

Cinnamon Butter in a small dish

This three ingredient cinnamon butter is simple but so delicious, it has the perfect balance of sweetness and spice.  A hot southern buttermilk biscuit straight out of the oven with this freshly made cinnamon butter on it is just pure heaven in my books.  My little obsession with cinnamon can be out of control at times  , I even sprinkle it in my coffee.  I have bought many brands and many types , Siagon Cinnamon is the best hands down. It is rich and fragrance and really gives anything you make with is a punch of cinnamon flavor. Most grocery stores have some type of brand , it is a little more expensive but try it once and you will be hooked.

Old Fashioned Turkey Gravy

July 11, 2020 by Debbie 17 Comments

Old Fashioned Turkey Gravy in a gravy boat

No holiday dinner is complete without Old Fashioned Turkey Gravy like Grandma used to make.  The only big secret I can share with you about making gravy is the turkey drippings make the best gravy ever. All the yummy flavors used to season the turkey will be incorporated into the drippings and make this gravy rich and savory. Growing up I thought my Mother had special powers in making the Thanksgiving gravy , it was so delicious and dreamy. Turns out it is pretty simple and now my kids think I have the same powers.  They don’t know how quick and simple this really is , from beginning to end it takes about 15 minutes.

Buttermilk Bourbon Syrup

November 28, 2019 by Debbie 4 Comments

Buttermilk Bourbon Syrup in a serving dish

A few years ago I tried buttermilk syrup and fell in love, I never looked at maple syrup the same. This Buttermilk Bourbon Syrup I spiced up for the holidays and to go with my Eggnog French Toast ,but this can be used on just about anything. Don’t be scared of the bourbon , it isn’t harsh and the alcohol cooks out. It can be eliminated all together but I love the flavor , it really adds a special touch.  This syrup also would be a great addition to my Spiced Pumpkin Apple Pancakes.

Sriracha Mayo

May 1, 2019 by Debbie Leave a Comment

srirahca mayo in a bowl

We have a thing about condiments in our house, I live with a bunch of dippers . I created this Sriracha mayo  to go with a Keto Cheeseburger Bowl , which is perfect if you are following a low carb lifestyle. This truly is the perfect condiment ..It is creamy and spicy . If you have never tried sriracha it is the perfect hot sauce without a vinegar flavor. This mayo can be used on just about anything. From bringing  life to a plain BLT to spicing up a fish taco…ohhh AND this is such a good seafood and french fry dip.

Creamy Peanut Butter Frosting

September 13, 2018 by Debbie 2 Comments

Creamy Peanut Butter Frosting on a chocolate cupcake

This creamy peanut butter frosting is the perfect silky frosting to top any cake or cupcake. I have this unwritten rule at my house..NO Canned Frosting!! I can doctor up a boxed cake mix to be delectable but that frosting in a can , it is beyond help. This is one of my favorite frostings, and I have tinkered around with proportions for years. This recipe is the perfect texture for piping , it is not too thick or too thin. This is the frosting I used on the Nutter Butter Football Cupcakes and it is perfect with chocolate cupcakes. Just some another suggestion is this is great on a banana cake also.
