Hot Cocoa Bombs in a cupcake liner decorated for Christmas

Hot Cocoa Bombs are hollow chocolate balls filled with little surprises that pop out when hot milk is poured over them. I mean if you haven’t seen a video of these bad boys floating around on all social media platforms you must be living under a rock, they are everywhere. Check out my video here, they are so addictive to watch.  These things are so much fun! It is so gratifying watching these float slowly in the hot milk and then pop open to expose all the goodies inside. These are not only super fun they are delicious . If you are a hot cocoa lover you will adore this rich chocolaty drink. When I made these I used my Homemade Hot Cocoa mix but any mix will do.  These little balls of happiness will be the perfect homemade holiday gift !

Hot Cocoa Mix

November 12, 2020 by Debbie Leave a Comment

2 mugs of hot coca made with hot coca mix.

This 4 ingredient hot cocoa mix is the perfect thing to keep you warm in the colder months. It is rich , creamy and is excellent for gift giving.  If you are searching for inexpensive teacher gifts or hostess gifts for the holiday season look no further , this is it. This mix can be doubled or tripled and is a fraction of the cost of the premixed hot cocoa. We are hot cocoa fanatics at my house and several years ago when my three boys were younger I discovered making my own mix was so much more cost effective. What is even more fun is adding flavored creamers to give your cocoa a little something extra. While I keep this recipe very basic keep in mind adding flavored creamers like Hazelnut, French vanilla , or even vanilla caramel is so much fun.

Grand Mimosa

May 4, 2020 by Debbie Leave a Comment

2 Grand Mimosas on in champagne flutes garnished with oranges

A Grand Mimosa is just a plain ole mimosa brought up a notch with a shot of Grand Marnier. Here in the south we look for excuses to serve mimosas. While we have them on special occasions like Mother’s Day, wedding showers , and holidays we also have them just because it’s Sunday . I mean you can’t have Sunday brunch without a refreshing Grand Mimosa .

Crown Apple Hot Toddy with a squeezed orange

Chances are if you grew up around a grandparent and you had a little cold they wanted to give you a hot toddy.  The old myth about this hot beverage curing a cold was the the whiskey or bourbon would help with your cough , the honey would sooth your throat and the lemon or orange in this case provided the vitamin C needed to get better .  Well , we all know now a cold is a virus that just has to run it’s course but this Crown Apple Hot Toddy is amazing. Sniffle or no sniffle you need this in your life during the colder months.

Christmas Martini with peppermints

What is the perfect Christmas Martini? It has to have chocolate and peppermint ,right? I am not going to make any excuses here..I love to create adult beverages. Give me a theme and adorable glasses ,my wheels start to turn. I saw these cute martini glasses at one of my favorite stores and I snatched them up on Black Friday . I knew at that moment I would be creating a few Christmas Martinis. I packed up my liquor suitcase, yes I have one, and brought my toys to a friends house and started to create Christmas magic. She was my martini guinea pig and this chocolate peppermint martini was one of our favorites. Seriously, nothing says Christmas more than chocolate and peppermint. The Kris Kringltini was born.

Cherry Chia Smoothie

Cherry Chia Smoothie in a glass with cherries

This Cherry Chia Smoothie is smooth, creamy and full of yummy goodness. Cherries are one of my favorite fruits and the chia seeds adds flavor and nuttiness.  I like to base my fruit smoothies with a Greek yogurt , it is sort of tangy and goes with the sweetness of fruit. I started experimenting with smoothies a few years ago when my teenagers discovered the local smoothie shop. If they had an unlimited budget they would be there everyday but $7-9 a pop they would rather me make them at home and save their money for more important things.

Liquid Sunshine Punch

May 20, 2018 by Debbie 5 Comments

Liquid Sunshine Punch in a pitcher and poured into two cups

Liquid Sunshine Punch is the perfect adult punch for any summer event . It is slightly tropical and fruity but not too strong and can be sipped on all day. I always thought it was a cliche that in a blink of an eye your children will be grown. I am not speaking of my actual child but my sweet niece , she graduated from college this past week. It seems like yesterday she was running and playing with her long blonde hair in pigtails getting dirty with all her cousins , much to her mother’s dismay. She adored her Granny and always seemed to be with her when we went to visit hanging on every word we said. She was an adorable child that we all loved to be around and has transformed into fine young lady.  At her graduation party I was feeling pretty old sitting with the young college aged girls until I tasted this punch they threw together. It was really something they just sort of made up and it was perfect to sip on sitting in the heat by the pool. This was happiness in a cup and made me feel much better.

Peanut Butter Fudge Shake

February 18, 2018 by Debbie Leave a Comment

Peanut Butter Fudge Shake with chocolate drizzling out

This Peanut Butter Fudge Shake is a perfect treat if you are looking for something special. It has a classic peanut butter and chocolate flavor in a shake. My husband and three teenage boys are suckers for anything peanut butter and chocolate. I have a ton of recipes in my personal arsenal of recipes that has this combination, I will get around to sharing them all someday. My oldest son just wrapped up his sophomore year of high school wrestling and in usual fashion it’s time to eat all of his favorite things. For the past 4 months he has been eating high protein , no refined sugar and no sodas at all. He is pretty strict and his wrestling coach has spies… he pays the football players with pizza if they spot a wrestler eating or drinking something they shouldn’t, LOL.  Today we got home from his final tournament for the year and I decided to make everyone a little treat.
