Let’s talk about candy corns..some people love them some people hate them . As soon as I see them in the stores I know autumn has arrived and in my opinion life isn’t worth living without candy corns. I can remember early in my marriage excited to buy the first bag of the fall mix of sugary goodness when they hit the supermarket shelves and my husband polished off the entire bag before I even got one little morsel. That’s when the reality of marriage set in and I realized I needed my secret stash candy drawer if my marriage was going to last, lol. Now there is a complete game changer in the candy corn world.. candy corn M&M’s !! If you haven’t tried these little nuggets of pure autumn joy stop what you are doing and go find some before the stores are out, your life won’t be the same. Since I have discovered these melt in your mouth not in your hands gems I have been dreaming up ways I could use these.
This snack mix combines all of my favorite things..salty and sweet, candy corn M&M’s , chocolate M&M’s , Mellowcreme pumpkins, and the sauce has a slight caramel flavor. I am telling you it’s hard to stop eating this stuff. After it is made and secured tightly in a storage container you will hear something calling your name. It’s this addictive mix that you just can’t stop eating. This mix is great to just snack on or even put in little bags for treats at fall festivals . Trust me you will make friends quick handing this out as favors.
So this is super easy to throw together and even kids can help. Start off by preheating your oven to 250 and mix your cereal, bugles, peanuts, and pretzels.
Set the candy aside and save for later.
Combine the butter and sugar in a medium saucepan and heat on medium heat.
Once the sugar has dissolved and it comes to a boil remove from the heat
Add the vanilla and caramel flavoring..I usually get the caramel flavoring in the coffee section in my supermarket
Pour the sugar mixture over the cereal mix and coat really well
I use a large roasting pan but you can use 2 cookie sheets to bake this mixture. Bake for 45 minutes stirring every 15 minutes making sure everything stays nice and coated
Once the mixture has baked for 45 minutes let it completely cool
Once it is cool add the candy
