French Dressing Chicken
This nostalgic French Dressing Chicken is sweet and tangy , the perfect weeknight meal. The skin gets sticky and it holds in tender juicy chicken everyone will love this.
Growing up in the 1970-80’s my mother made this French Dressing Chicken often . I grew up in a household that rarely went out to eat , my mother cooked every night .Going out to eat was reserved for special occasions. This is one of those recipes that brings back memories of my childhood. This is a recipe that takes minimal ingredients and it is budget friendly. - French Dressing – This is the base of this sauce
- BBQ Sauce-This adds a little smokiness and tanginess
- Onion soup mix -Add the rich onion flavor
- Salt and Pepper
- Bone in Chicken-I used thighs but legs or breast can be used

Let’s Make French Dressing Chicken:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Place chicken in a baking pan and salt and pepper them
In a small bowl mix the French dressing , BBQ sauce , and onion soup
Pour dressing mixture over the chicken and bake in a preheat oven for 1 hour
At 50 minutes spoon the dressing mixture over the skin and basted it well
Return the chicken to the oven and turn the broiler on high for 5-7 minutes and brown the skin really well. Before serving make sure the internal temp in 165 degrees since cooking times will vary with different cuts and sizes of chicken pieces .
This is a simple week night meal that is easy in the budget . We serve ours with a side of rice and a green vegetable .

- 6 chicken thighs -Bone in with skin See notes
- salt
- pepper
- 1 1/2 cup French dressing
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 packet Onion soup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Place chicken in a baking pan and salt and pepper them

- At 55 minutes spoon the dressing mixture over the skin and basted it well
- After basting turn the broiler on high for 10 minutes and brown the skin really well . As always check the internal temp of the chicken to make sure it is 165 degrees.
