These patriotic star brownies are chocolate dipped and then drizzled with red , white and blue . Topped with sprinkles this is a super cute dessert for all of your summer events. I don’t know about your family but mine loves brownies in any shape or size . Dipping just about anything in chocolate is always welcomed at my house. I wanted something a little different for the upcoming 4th of July weekend and got inspiration from Chocolate dipped heart brownies. These brownies can be enjoyed anytime of year but especially those holidays you want to show a little patriotism like 4th of July or Memorial Day.
What you will need to make these Patriotic star brownies :
- Brownie mix along with water , eggs and oil
- Chocolate chips
- Red , white and blue wilton candy melts
- red white and blue sprinkles
- Jelly roll pan
- parchment paper
- star cookie cutter
- Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate wafers -or chocolate almond bark
Things you need to know about this recipe :
- If you are in a pinch you can buy the already baked Pillsbury brownies at Sam’s and start from there
- Don’t waste those scrapes , cut them in bit sized pieces and serve them
- Brownies freeze well. My heart brownies I froze them already decorated a few weeks a head of time and let them defrost for about an hour
- Walmart sells the really small bags of candy wafers. Check there before buying the big bags because you won need much. I always store my bags of unused wafers in the freezer . The red and white can be used at Christmas.
- If you can not find the Ghiradelli wafers you can use a chocolate almond bark. Almond bark is a little sweeter though
Let’s make Brownies !!
Add both the water and oil , then mix well . I mix this by hand with a rubber spatula .
Fold chocolate chips into the batter.
Spread into the prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes .
Once the brownies are cooled completely using a star cookie cutter and cut out the stars. Place these brownies in the freezer for at least 30 minutes
Once the brownies are chilled well melt the chocolate wafers in 30 second intervals until the chocolate is melted.
Dip the tops of the stars in the chocolate making sure the tops are completely covered .
Allow the chocolate to completely set up
Melt the red , white and blue candy melts in separate bowls . Place the melted wafers in piping bags or Ziplock bags. Snip the end off and drizzle the tops of the brownies.
These are the perfect dessert for those holidays you want to be a little extra patriotic.
