Swamp Soup
This Swamp Soup is a viral TikTok sensation! This hearty soup combines smoky sausage, flavorful greens, and a variety of beans for a comforting dish that’s perfect on its own or paired with cornbread.
If you are on TikTok most likely you have either seen Miranda’s Swamp Soup or another version of it on your FYP. I took her version and made it my own and decided to share it with all of you. The first time I ever heard of swamp soup was at a little restaurant in Gulf Shores , Alabama in 2020. I don’t recall the name of the little place but it was really good and it seems like it was served with hush puppies. Recreating this at home made me super happy. I served this soup with my Cheddar Jalapeno Cornbread Muffins for a warm and comforting meal .
What you will need to make Swamp Soup:
- Smoked Sausage -Use the best smoked sausage you can get . An Andouille will work for this recipe .
- Onion, bell pepper and garlic
- 32 oz chicken broth
- Canned Seasoned Greens -I used Margaret Holmes brand but it may not be available to you. First look at your local Wal-Mart , this is the only place in my area that has this brand . Just make sure you used seasoned greens , or else you will need to add more seasoning .
- Canned Butter Beans – I used the Seasoned Margaret Holmes
- Hoppin John-If this isn’t available to you a can of Black Eyed Peas can be used
- Lima Beans -If you don’t like Lima beans you can replace this with another bean like pinto beans or navy beans
- Whole kernel corn
- Rotel -Used the heat level you think you can handle
- Vegetable Bouillon-If you can’t fins this add a chicken bouillon cube
- Cajun Seasoning -Use what you like , my family likes Tony’s
- Large soup pot -At least 8 quarts-Tap HERE
- Kitchen Knife -tap HERE for my favorite
- Cutting board
