Apple Turnovers
These easy apple turnovers are made with flaky puff pastry and filled with homemade apple filling. They are full of warm spices and are the perfect fall dessert ready in minutes .

If you have never made turnovers or hand held pies these apple turnovers are a great recipe to try. Using puff pastry is not only a delicious choice it makes this recipe super easy to make . making the homemade apple filling really makes this turnover special and more of a homemade feel . What you will Need to Make Apple Turnovers :
- Puff Pastry
- Fresh Apples to peel and dice
- butter
- brown sugar
- cinnamon
- salt
- egg and water
- powdered sugar
- vanilla
- milk
- cinnamon sugar mixture -optional

Let’s Make Apple turnovers !

Melt butter over medium to high heat in a medium skillet Add diced apples , brown sugar , cinnamon and salt .Cook for about 6-7 minutes , or until the apples are soft

Make a slurry with the corn starch and water , add it to the apples. cook the mixture until the liquid is thickened .Allow to cool before assembling the turnovers

Preheat oven to 400 degrees . Roll 1 sheet of the puff pastry out on a flour surface to a square about 12×12 . Cut into 4 equal portions

Place puff pastry squares on a parchment lined baking sheet . Brush the edges with egg wash. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling in the center of the square

Fold puff pastry into a triangle and crimp the edges with a fork then Cut a small vent hole on top

Brush with egg wash . If you like sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture . Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Once out of the oven carefully transfer to a cooling rack

Mix glaze adding a little milk at a time until it is to a consistency you like

Drizzle the glaze over the cooled turnovers . To get the icing drizzled evenly with use a piping bag or a Ziplock with the corn snipped off .

- Puff Pastry 2 sheets
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cups diced apples Small dice
- 1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

- cinnamon sugar mix optional

- 2 tablespoon water
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2-3 Teaspoons milk

These are good for 2-3 days in a sealed container . If you keep them in the fridge you might get a few more days .
Yes , I would reheat them in the microwave for 15-20 intervals until it is as warm as you like it
That is up to you but I like to use granny smith or honey crisp. I recommend a firm apple
Yes this is a good basic recipe but any fruit you would make a pie with can be used
You can use it but I recommend dicing the apples in the filling
have not tried yet, would not use the glaze.
